Installation of solar panels on a roof plate.

In order for the building to withstand solar cell load, it is best if this type of investment is planned at the design stage of the facility. However, it is also possible to install photovoltaic panels at a later time, provided that the appropriate conditions are met and that the roofing is not affected. In our article, we discuss the topic of installing modern systems using solar energy. We also provide possible directions for the development of the photovoltaic industry.

Where is the best to install solar cells?

Although photovoltaic panels are suitable for placing directly on the ground, they are rarely installed on the ground. It is a low-cost solution. Cells take up a lot of space that can be used for other purposes, such as for cultivation or recreation. If they are mounted on a single-family building, they can be placed on the roof or facade. However, the most energy is obtained from an installation installed on a larger facility, e.g. a roof plate of a warehouse or sports facility.

Regardless of whether solar cells are to be on the ground, facade or roof it is important to mount them in a place that is not shaded. The larger the sun's impact area, the more energy will be needed.

Position of solar panels relative to the sun.

If the investment in a modern solar energy system is to pay off, the location of the modules is very important. As a general rule, never install solar panels northwards. In this setting, most of the time during the day they will remain shaded, which means that the investment will not be profitable.

The exact location of the cells should depend on the angle of incidence of the sun's rays and the time in which the greatest demand for energy occurs: after or before noon. Depending on this, photovoltaic panels should be oriented in the south-west or south-east direction. There are also mobile devices that can be tilted at the most optimal angle depending on the current season.

Ways to install solar panels on a roof plate.

When installing solar modules on a sports, warehouse or industrial building, it is very important to attach them to sandwich panels, from which roofing is usually made in such facilities. Therefore, we present two standard solutions used in the industry, which require the use of a rail, attached to the roof plate and then to solar panels:

1. assembly using trapezoidal holders and farmer screws,
2. assembly with tin screws.

The first solution consists in attaching the rail to the roof plate using trapezoidal grips selected for the type of external cover sheet. They are attached to the sides of the plate. In the second approach, on the other hand, you can fix the rail with sealing flange screws. Regardless of which type of assembly is chosen, additional gaskets are used.

Restriction on solar cell assembly.

Although the given installation methods for solar panels are currently the most widely used, this does not mean that they do not carry some risk. However, if you are aware of side effects, you can prevent the consequences. The main rule is that you need to ensure that the fastening points are properly positioned, as they must not be at the junction of two sandwich panels. Otherwise, it can lead to a situation where the roof will simply leak and a large amount of heat escapes from the building.

As a rule, the methods of installing solar panels for a roof plate are very simple. By knowing the general principles, you can easily take the necessary action. An experienced fitter will definitely handle it.

Selection of sandwich panels for the installation of panels.

Will the assembly activities described in our article work for every sandwich panel? Unfortunately not, so before taking steps to install solar panels, make sure that the outer sheet of the roof plate has the right thickness. Otherwise, it may turn out that its load will be too high, and in addition the roofing at the places of fastening will not be sufficiently tight.

To avoid these problems, it is best to use a sandwich panel for the location of the solar panels, in which the outer sheet will be 0.7 millimeters thick.

What are the prospects for development of solar farms?

Observing the industry associated with the production of solar cells, it can be concluded that in Poland this market is still developing. It also faces certain problems, such as the competition from Chinese solar panel manufacturers or the lack of places where large solar power plants could be created. Another difficulty is the lack of specific, predetermined guidelines for the thickness of sandwich panels on which the cells could be installed. Perhaps this problem will be solved thanks to panel producers who will propose solutions typically created for the installation of solar panels. This would certainly make it easier for investors to make decisions at the design stage of a warehouse or industrial building.

The use of solar cells on large objects.

Little is said about the benefits of using renewable energy sources, which may translate into slower development of related industries. It should be emphasized that the installation of solar cells on private buildings is a small energy gain. These are actions that are needed but not too much in an economic context. For the sake of the economy and the environment, entrepreneurs who have a larger roof space should be convinced of such solutions. This will allow better use of the possibilities of solar panels and translate into satisfying part of the demand for energy.
